Out of sheer boredem this morning I decided to check in on this old livejournal to see if it still existed. Sure enough it is still here.
I am bidding on a camcorder so I am trying to kill some time.

Saudi Arabia [May. 31st, 2004|08:22 am]
out of tune
I have yet to book my flight to South Africa for my best friends wedding. I did go to the travel agancy just over a month ago to look into flights and prices. One that worked for me was through Saudi Arabia Airlines. Which would require me to remain in Jeddah for a 12 hour stopover. I was planning on booking the flight this afternoon. But, this morning, I read in the papers that The Foreign Affairs Department in Ottawa has issued a travel advisory, saying, "Canadians planning to travel to Saudi Arabia should evaluate carefully the implications for their security and safety before deciding to travel. Canadians currently in Saudi Arabia should maintain a high level of personal security awareness at all times and in all places.''
But I'm sure we'll be fine if we are just hanging around the airport for half a day. I'm also hoping that this flight will even be cheaper now that some people may be realizing the risk and heeding this warning.

I'm finally use to the new apartment and I'm looking forward to the summer here. I've also got to save up for a ticket to South Africa for my best friends wedding. I haven't booked a flight yet for two reasons - I still haven't enough money and my best friend is presently in Iraq. No point booking a trip if the groom is dead. I'll wait until he returns to the safety and security of Johanessburg.

I also recently got back in touch with my long lost cousin. She moved to Greece from Scotland but is presently touring Sri Lanka.

And I wasted a bunch of time preparing a site for my band, The Rock Ons.

on this weeks episode of Friends (and Family)... [Feb. 26th, 2004|07:51 am]

[music |Mojave 3 - Bluebird of Hapiness]

One of the things that I was looking forward to now that I have moved out is not having my brother "borrow" and not return my stuff. But now he practically lives next door with his ex-girlfriend (who is also the building super). And he has access to the key to my apartment.
I noticed my George Foreman Grill was missing the other day.
I think I've moved into a sitcom.

I found out that the Britney Spears movie that I am working on is not titled "Trading Paint" but an MOW (Movie Of the Week) that is tentatively titled "My Mother's Gift". Apparently, Britney and her mother wrote the script about some kid who earns a scholarship. A lot of it is filmed at the University of Toronto.
In other news, my birthday is this upcoming weekend. I won't admit how old I am getting. But I am planning on having a few people over this Friday.

Finally getting settled into the new apartment. I still have a ton of shit to do - things to fix, things to bring, things to buy, things to replace. I've only been working weekends lately so I have had time to do a lot of what needs to be done. But starting Monday I'll be working on another show. It is called Trading Paint and stars Britney Spears. I'm not looking forward to s bunch of teenage boys hanging around her trailer holding up "Will You Marry Me?" signs.

moving on,,, [Nov. 30th, 2003|09:38 am]

[mood |moveable]
[music |The Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated]

Ok, so I haven’t updated for two and a half months. I’ve been busy. Warcarft III doesn’t play itself you know.
Well, that and working on Resident Evil II kept me busy.
For the next two weeks I will be working on a show called "The Coven" (not yet sure if that is pronounced with a long "o" or a short "o"). I do know that it is a pilot for a television series. Which means it will likely never air.
Then on December 15th I move the hell out of this place (I hope) and into the city. Just got to wait until the application processes. I’m hoping they don’t discover too many sordid details about my past.

But I’m not the only one who doesn’t keep updating. I had not heard from my closest friend, who moved to South Africa, in over three months. He finally called me Saturday morning. Unfortunately, I was still on my way home from work. But I got his message. It was good to hear his voice and know that he is still alive. And I’m actually serious when I say "alive". I’ve just heard too many horror stories about the place he lives.

On a lighter note, I posted up some photos from one of my band’s recent jam session:

more movies... [Sep. 14th, 2003|04:33 am]

Tonight was the final screening of the Toronto International Film Festival. The midnight screening of Undead also signified the final curtains of the Uptown Theatre, an historical piece of Toronto cinema. The theatre, build in the twenties, is being torn down and replaced by condominiums. So, tonight was a sad yet thrilling night. But I did manage to sneak bakstage and take some mementos.
The following is the rest of the films that I watched this week:
Rhinocerous Eyes
Brown Bunny
School of Rock
Cheeky

The filmlist for The Toronto International Film Festival is now online. This will mark my tenth consecutive year attending the festival and the tenth consecutive year I will be budding in front of other moviegoers in order to get the best seat in the house.
Judging by the list some of the films I am already interested in seeing include:

I'll Sleep When I'm Dead - Mike Hodges
Cypher - Vincenzo Natali
Undead - Peter Spierig, Michael Spierig
Nothing - Vincenzo Natali
Proteus - John Greyson
Afropunk: The "Rock n Roll Nigger" Experience - James Spooner
The Five Obstructions - Lars von Trier, Jørgen Leth
Cheeky - David Thewlis
Coffee & Cigarettes - Jim Jarmusch

The Fog of War - Errol Morris
Go Further - Ron Mann

I only need 12 more movies to use up my 30 tickets.
